The GenWeb project was started in 1996 by a group of genealogists in Kentucky as a way to share information over the Internet which was then just starting to become widely used. The Minnesota GenWeb page was created in July 1996 and I put up the Otter Tail site in December of the same year. The project has grown significantly in the past 5 years and continues to evolve as one of the primary sources for genealogy on the Internet.
